Pause and Reflect

This blog was started as a continuation of another blog I had also called Bookish Mood. The difference was that on that blog I published longer reviews of books I read once a week. This year I somehow managed to publish my 52 reviews earlier and felt like a I needed to celebrate with the old pat on the back (I actually read 80 books so far). I cannot say I learned a lot this year. Because my memory plays tricks on me I only manage to mantain pieces of information in my mind for a few hours.

Reading is like mindfulness to me. It helps me stay focused on the present moment. It is also a great way of relaxing and firing up my neurons. I somehow went back to childhood and adolescence years when I read just for the fun of it. Sadly, I realized that at my age I read only a few books and they weren't very good. I haven't read Shakespeare or the Russian greats for example. However, I try to focus my reading on interesting topics such as the psychology of personality, neuroscience and intercultural communication. These are things I came across in my life and they sparked my interest. I also try to keep things exciting and read a fiction book here and there. If you ask me non-fiction is where it's at.

So to motivate myself and to celebrate I made a very short video. A declaration of competence if you will. I am so happy that I started this blog and did what I could with what I had where I was. The reviews are short but the blog is kinda interesting if you read it from finish to start. Not to mention the fact that the books I read were kinda outlandish.

Until my next review take care and...

P.S. Sorry for the related videos.
