This week's book is Johann Hari's Lost Connections. It is a book on depression and how it's not just a chemical inbalance in your brain. The book documents psychological studies regarding the psychological, biochemical and sociological causes of depression and invites the reader to think of alternative cures for depression. It states that reconnection is needed: reconnection to other people, to meaningful work, to a secure future and to respect among other things. I found it useful because I, too, thought of my depression as a chemical inbalance in my brain. This book debunked the respective myth for me. I also shed a few tears when the case of a small community in Berlin was presented. I felt proud of the courage those people exhibited. All in all, a beautiful read and the feeling of not being alone gained.
