Take 2

This week's book is The Gift of Fear. I have read it because I needed some reassurance that in some circumstances fear is a positive emotion. And, boy, was I right. It seems that fear is a signal that something tragic is about to get down. It protects us from violence and is an instinctual response that shouldn't be ignored. In this book I found out about the indicators of violence, meaning how you can tell if you're about to be attacked, cases of violence and situations when fear is to be avoided. It's an original book and it doesn't resemble anything I've read so far. It scored four stars on Goodreads and it helped me in becoming aware of the dangers I am facing in today's society as a woman. I also found the sections about abusive men to be eye-opening and the mentions of Daniel Goleman's work on emotional intelligence refreshing. Highly recommended if you are looking for ways to protect yourself from violence
