This week's book is Make It Stick. Around 200 pages of going round and round the subject of effective learning. Apparently, repetition and practice are not good ways of learning. More like generation, meaning solving problems without any clues, elaboration, meaning teaching somebody else and retrieval practice meaning quizzes or flash cards on the learning of your choice. The book also has sections dedicated to life-long learners and their learning strategies, some mentions of mnemonics, some tips for students, teachers and trainers. An idea that I found interesting was teachers teaching the process of learning to students as well as learning how to learn. Another interesting idea was workers teaching their managers how to get some stuff done. An engaging read that also contained mentions to some psychological experiments. All in all, three stars on Goodreads.
