This week's book is Silence. It is the story of a Portuguese priest who is made to apostatize under the threat of torture. Although I expected the book to be gruesome its level of violence was tolerable. The irony of it all was the silence of God throughout the book with all the killing of Christians going on. There was also the equivalent of Judas who constantly asked for forgiveness always saying that he was weak. A nutcase if you ask me. The book poses the question "Would you suffer for your Christian belief?" and it's filled with suspense. Its ending was unexpected to me and although it was marketed as a great novel I gave it only three stars on Goodreads. Something about it just didn't add up.
