Another book that I read this week was Against Empathy. It is a book on the tricky nature of empathy and it argues that we would be better off without it. It's packed with pieces of information on psychological experiments and it is thoroughly researched. I found it easy to read and I agreed with the point that the author is trying to make: that sometimes empathy can result in evil, not in good. The style of this work was simple and reader-friendly and the arguments were sound. I, for one, have struggled with empathy my entire life and have finally understood that compassion, not empathy should be preferred in interpersonal relationships. In other words you are not a bad person if you cannot feel the feelings of others. Four stars on Goodreads.
